ASGRA Rodeo Dance

The gay rodeo hotel this year has been moved from the Capitol Hill area of downtown DC to Tysons Corners in Virginia. Judging by the vastly smaller crowd at the dance tonight, I'd say this move may not have been a winner. Hopefully, it's the foul weather keeping people away but the venue location can't help.

A surprising number of rodeo regulars seemed to be absent but we had enough square dancers for a half-hour demo & first-nighter lesson. We didn't have much of an audience as the schedulers put us in a side room while the Manhattan Prairie Dogs were performing in the main dance hall. Bummer, but such is life.

As soon as our performance was over, we hit the road. My ears were close to bleeding from excessive volume in both dance spaces, but of course I'm a gentle & delicate thing. Now to get some sleep so we can repeat our show at 1:45 PM tomorrow afternoon, presuming that tropical storm Hanna doesn't wash us all out to sea.

Today's ASGRA Rodeo Events Canceled!

Because of tropical storm Hanna drifting through the area, all rodeo activities at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds are canceled, including our square dance demo. Bummer.

I'm guessing the evening dance at the McLean Hilton is still on. We're not scheduled to perform at tonight's dance but might attend anyway, depending on our mood and the weather.

Making the Most of the Day

On a bit of a whim, we drove out to College Park, MD, to indulge ourselves with ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery where we drooled over observed the following:

On the way home, we stopped by Home Depot to pick up some items for the trailer and to check paint chips for our bathroom renovation project. We also stopped at Cherry Hill Trailer Park to pick up yet more items for the trailer and headed for home.

I've resumed a pet project: resurrecting some files from a failed/failing Windows hard drive. I'm trying a couple of data recovery programs mentioned on the web, but I'm open to recommendations for other utilities.
