Aug. 25th, 2008 05:38 pmWe have successfully returned from Cleveland and all is well. We now need to unpack; I also have to have a quick bite before dashing downtown to call for the DC Lambda Squares' Mainstream class at 7:30 PM.

Mainstream Class
Aug. 25th, 2008 10:35 pmI called for DCLS' new Mainstream class tonight. The newbies are two months into the class series so Butch Adams, their instructor, requested a new voice on the mic periodically to help them become accustomed to different calling styles. kent4str will take the 4th Monday of September.
I was a little surprised when Butch arrived at the class: I thought he'd enjoy a night off. Instead, he listened to me calling and chatted me up during the breaks. He also cued me through calling a set of hexagons figures in the second half of the class, my first attempt at such.. great fun! I'll definitely try working through more of the hex calling in future as it will be very useful if I have an irregular number of couples or huge variety in dancer experience as it levels the playing field without being too sophisticated.
In all, it was a successful night and I'm going to check my email and head for bed.
