Happy Birthday,
Jun. 25th, 2008 08:27 amNothing Much to Report
Jun. 25th, 2008 09:17 amI called the regular Chesapeake Squares club night Tuesday evening. It was a fun time, although as noted previously, some folks in the A2 tip were stumbling a bit. Still, I had three squares for Mainstream, a very good turn-out, and they collectively danced pretty well once warmed up.
Beyond that, there's little to report. Most of my mental activity is currently directed towards the Cleveland IAGSDC convention: we're leaving on Saturday so I need to start the process of packing some time very soon. In my role as registrar for the 2009 convention, I need to print out a stack of registration forms and prepare a binder of registrants-to-date so folks can confirm their information.
I'm planning to be around the GCA caller school next Monday through Wednesday but I'm not overly excited about it; I've attended the past four either as a participant or as a checker so unless there's a radical change in the curriculum, it'll likely be stuff I've seen before. I'm hoping to at least contribute half-days as a checker for the beginner class and provide a little moral support during the breaks. Hopefully, my enthusiasm will increase once I get a good night's sleep.

National Park Seminary Tour
Jun. 25th, 2008 10:46 pmThis evening after work,
kent4str,
cuyahogarvr, Dave R. and I attended a tour of the National Park Seminary organized by a local charity which has been working for years to preserve the historic buildings.
The property has been under construction for some time. The empty areas of the grounds now have townhouses; the profits from these (as well as future sales of condos and income from rents) are helping to fund the preservation of the historic portions of the complex. I've talked about it previously in this post.
