We'll be off to Rehoboth Beach, DE, mid-morning this coming Friday.

I've printed off a stack of DC Diamond Circulate 2009 convention registration forms but still have to include a number of our new convention brochures. The calling equipment is in the minivan to be used for the DC Lambda Squares tonight so we'll just leave it there for Friday.

The Delmarvelous Squares of Rehoboth Beach, DE, are hosting an open house at PTOH in the convention center Friday evening from 8-9pm and Saturday from 3-4pm at the Convention Center. A sign-up sheet for more information is available for those who can't stay.

I'm feeling a little rushed at the moment but provided I get out of work at a decent hour this afternoon, there will be plenty of time to get the final items wrapped up cleanly.

When [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr attempted to make our own room reservation at the Marriott Wardman Park this morning, things didn't go exactly smoothly.

He was first informed that since we didn't have a signed contract, no reservation could be made. WTF?! The contract was signed June 12, 2006! When he confronted them with this information, they shifted stories, saying that since the window has just opened, the convention code will be entered into the system today and reservations can therefore start tomorrow.

This strikes me as somewhat lame --why should they wait for the start of the window, knowing it means it all starts a day later?-- but we'll push again tomorrow. I've updated John Z, our hotel point-of-contact and negotiator, so he can make additional phone calls if necessary.

Outside of the coconut-scented hand soap in all the mens' rooms, it rains a lot here. In fact, it has rained at our Reston office each day this week.

Worse, it appears to only rain for one hour: 12-1 PM. Bastards.

Fig trees were an obsession of the family who had our house before we moved in back in 1999. We didn't much care for the trees along the east side of the house but we didn't have any better idea of what to do with the space. [livejournal.com profile] kent4str and [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr now have some sort of planting idea --expensive, I'm sure-- so we had the trees removed.
