We dragged [livejournal.com profile] otterpop58, Betsy & Roy Gotta and two new Mainstream dancers Mike and John out to Shenanigans for dinner last night --[livejournal.com profile] billeyler and [livejournal.com profile] zzbear will remember it as the place we went for dinner last year. Portions are still overwhelmingly huge: I could barely finish half of my bathtub of chicken penne.

Our dinner group was back in time for [livejournal.com profile] otterpop58 to make the 7 PM evening dance, sharing the stage with Dayle Hodge and [livejournal.com profile] ewe_bull_akr. Alas, the Powerhouse Restaurant was utterly overwhelmed and understaffed: large numbers of dancers were still out for dinner at 7 PM, including [livejournal.com profile] ewe_bull_akr.

Bodies were trickling back in until 9 PM or so. This actually worked well for [livejournal.com profile] kent4str and I as we were actively selling 50/50 tickets as a fundraiser for DC Diamond Circulate, the IAGSDC 2009 convention. In all, we sold $850 worth of tickets, a personal best for us... Woo hoo!

Following the dance at 10 PM, [livejournal.com profile] kent4str and I moved our sound system to poolside for the swimming pool tip with Zip Warmerdam and Sean Crist. I was too exhausted to dance at all but had a fun time just floating around the pool. Sadly, [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr was feeling a little off so he spent the pool tip and the rest of the evening in our room resting up. On the good side, he was looking much improved this morning.

This morning, [livejournal.com profile] kent4str and I co-called a half-hour of Mainstream & Plus at 10 AM. Dear god almighty, I hate mornings. I haven't slept particularly well in a week and while I could still resolve fairly well, I think my creativity suffered. Let's just pretend that I was intentionally doing simply choreo for the greatest possible success rate of the floor so I could make a good impression in my half-hour appearance, shall we?

We're now checked out of the tell and I'm sitting in the C1/C2 hall with Dayle Hodge and [livejournal.com profile] ewe_bull_akr calling. I'm catching up on LJ and e-mail while recording these sessions for research; I hope to find time to transcribe these modules in the coming week.

We'll be in the road again in a couple of hours once we dismantle and pack up the sound systems [livejournal.com profile] otterpop58 is using in the other hall. I so want to sleep in my own bed tonight.

Our weekend of square dancing is over and we're now unpacking & decompressing before our week goes nuts once again.

This week, we have:
- Monday: teaching Plus class (3rd last!) in Washington, DC;
- Tuesday: [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr goes to Dallas to visit family;
- Wednesday: calling C1 in Arlington, DC
- Thursday: calling Mainstream and attending DCLS' annual membership meeting;
- Friday: sleeping.
[livejournal.com profile] manknits will be in town Friday-Monday so we hope to cross paths with him too.
