I had some out-of-office errands I originally planned to do today but had to push them to tomorrow because of some meetings in my calendar. Then when it was too late to do any of my errands, all of my work-related meetings were rescheduled to next week. Figures.

I drove to the local mall for an early lunch; I had no particular plans but needed to get away from my cube and my to-do list for a while. While sitting in McDonald's chewing on a fillet-o-fish sandwich, I realized I was stationed across the hall from a Victoria's Secret. It was kinda fun watching the straight boys drift past deep in thought, get a look of surprised inspiration upon realizing what store they passed, double back to Victoria's Secret, disappear inside for five minutes, then reappear looking even more confused than when they originally walked past the store. Valentine's Day will do that to a guy. Or so I'm told.

No romantic dinners for the three for us tonight: I'm calling Plus and A2 for the DC Lambda Squares. I expect turn-out to be somewhat low among the hitched crowd because of the calendar conflict but I get paid the same either way so I'm fine with that.

This day has turned out to be much longer than I anticipated.

I had a 3 PM appointment to have my car's oil changed. While there, it was revealed I was due for the 100,000 mile check-up so I opted to go ahead with that rather than try to juggle my schedule for another visit. By the time they were done, it was just after 5 PM which killed my hope of grabbing a quick nap before going to DC Lambda Squares to call dancing tonight. The dealer sadly does not have wifi in their customer lounge --bastards!-- but I was at least able to transcribe considerably more of this past week's ACDC square dance calling for study.

My car and I got off light this time: one tire is apparently very nearly bald (I hadn't noticed but will check tomorrow when I Have daylight) and the battery is underperforming its rated level by 25%. The service weasel was a little surprised when I told him the battery was the original which came with the car in 2001. In any case, I'll take care of both of those Saturday morning at our local NTB franchise rather than go through the Honda dealer.

[livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr had a lovely salmon dinner prepared for the two of us this evening --[livejournal.com profile] kent4str despises seafood and wasn't planning to join us at DCLS anyway so he was on his own.

Calling tonight went very well. We had three squares on the floor, surprising considering it was Valentine's and most folks are tired from this past weekend. My Plus and A2 stuff went over very well indeed, so I'm happy.

Recent caller school graduate Abe Feldman also went on the mic for his first time calling Plus for DCLS; he did very well overall. I stood by on my own mic, ready to salvage anything if he got in too far, but there's only once I stepped in to correct the couples' order. My only other involvement was occasionally feeding him resolution suggestions if he was having difficulty spotting zero boxes or zero lines. Abe did very well indeed on flow & handedenss of calls, even joking with the floor to have dancers suggest a particular call for him to use in some figures. Good work!

Tonight, the hubbies and I exchanged some small gifts & cards. I'm feeling considerable exhaustion so I'm going to head to bed shortly.
