Denver, Day 1
May. 19th, 2007 09:00 pmOur flight from BWI was utterly uneventful --except for the really hawt number sitting in the row in front of us anyway. :-)
Upon landing, we rendez-vous'ed with
rlegters and
tdjohnsn at baggage carousel #12, collected all our bags and hired a limo van to get us to the Hampton Inn & Suites in downtown Denver.
After checking in, examining our room and confirming we were indeed getting free wireless Internet, we went for a walk to (a) locate lunch, (b) investigate our immediate neighbourhood, and (c) check out the Grand Hyatt, the official hotel of the IAGSDC convention.
Lunch as a simple affair at Steuben's, just around the corner from The Wrangler and a couple of blocks from our hotel. From there, we walked over to the Hyatt, noting various useful business and eating establishments as we walked.
There was a number of functions already in progress at the Hyatt so we couldn't do more than examine the lobby and look in a few meeting room doors, but it certainly seems like a lovely hotel.
We walked the length of the 16th Street Mall, stopping briefly at Rockmount Western Wear so
tdjohnsn could look at boots (he didn't buy any) and I could get a new hat (and I did).
We rode the free bus service back the length of the mall to Fremont, then walked the remaining few blocks to our hotel. After a quick nap, we're ready to go out on the town again.
Tonight's plans: dinner, then The Wrangler!
