Exhaustion
May. 18th, 2007 08:56 amI didn't sleep very well last night but I think it was worth it.
I've been UNIX primary point-of-contact at work all of this week. Monday sucked, Tuesday was light, Wednesday was medium and Thursday was pure hell. In fact, I'm billing 14 hours for Thursday alone. Fortunately, I am not primary today so I'm now just cleaning up old issues and finalizing my paperwork.
More importantly, I am 95% packed and ready to roll out the door for the Denver IAGSDC convention. We're flying out Saturday morning. The weather is likely to be quite variable: it's going to be cool outdoors most of next week but we'll probably be dancing up a sweat indoors so I've packed the extended wardrobe. I'm also packing laundry detergent with the intent of doing some laundry half-way through the 10 days we'll be in Colorado.
We also have to pack a number of other items since both
kent4str and I are working on the 2009 convention. He's coordinating the presentation which will be made during the membership meeting & brunch on May 27, as well as the information table & staffing. This portion also includes any props, give-aways, t-shirts for the team and so on. I'm coordinating early bird registrations and pre-registrations so I have a tonne of paperwork of my own and will likely be spending more time tied to the registration table than actual dancing. The first shipment of materials were shipped out yesterday; an additional shipment goes today. Some items will travel with us.
I'm planning a leisurely day at the office, going out for lunch and a sundae and possibly even leaving early to enjoy a quick nap at home. I'm going to be turning off my pager shortly, and savouring the silence.
