I'm telecommuting from home this morning and will be "leaving work" by noon.

Around lunchtime, I will load our dance sound equipment into the minivan with our luggage and head for downtown DC. I will pray for a convenient parking spot, then check into the Crowne Plaza and begin setting up the registration table and stuffing the pre-registration packages.

At some point, I have to eat dinner; dancing starts at 7 PM.

In other news, yet another contractor has left my employer so we have a gap in our weekend night coverage. Today was payday and it was indeed deposited in my account so I presume I'm employed for another day. :-^

On the iMac memory issue I've been dealing with: the manufacturer has decided the error may be a programming issue in the DIMM controller falsely misidentifying itself to my iMac as a 256 MB DIMM rather than 512 MB. They issued and RMA and the old DIMM will be on its way back for swapping later today.

Today would have been my paternal grandmother's birthday. Josephine Jarvis was born in the vicinity of Liverpool, England, in 1900; she passed away almost 20 years ago. I was studying at the University of Waterloo at the time and was a pallbearer at her funeral.

I didn't actually recall it was her birthday until I looked at my Palm Pilot this morning. Interestingly, I dreamed about her two nights ago perhaps the first time in many months so I was at least unconsciously aware of the pending anniversary. I remember the dream was largely a reunion, me expressing how much I've missed her over the years and her mentioning how proud she was that my life had turned out so well and a little shocked that she now had so many descendents.

It was a very nice dream, and I do miss her.

Fearing I was short of name tag holders for this weekend's square dance event --most people have their own club badges but some folks forget to pack them-- I dashed out to Staples to buy more.

Just now, I discovered a box in the DCLS archives which has a bazillion empty tag holders. I now have enough for several fly-in events. Damn good these things are dirt cheap.

Please stop me before I shop again.
