A Little Sluggish Today
Dec. 18th, 2006 10:16 amWe were up later than we should have been last night. After dinner, we have a delightful but all too brief telephone call with
cuyahogarvr... looking forward to his return to DC after New Year's. The we got caught up in watching "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" on TNT, which lasted well past 11 PM. The insane part is that we have the DVD: we could have watched it again at any point in the past year, or dropped out last night at any point without worry. We're just idiots, but we're the kind of idiots that cable TV advertisers really love.
When we finally did go to bed, someone --I won't say who to protect the guilty-- started snoring almost immediately. I inserted ear plugs but he increased the volume to compensate. Towards 1:30 AM, my pillow, alarm clock and I went down the hall to the guest room to sleep.
The alarm sounded at 6:30 AM but I beat it into submission and slept until almost 8 AM. OK, I'm an hour late coming to work, but I needed the extra snooze time. Fortunately, there's not much activity going on which will require more than 50% of my maximum level of focus & concentration.
Tonight, we are teaching the last Mainstream square dance class of this semester. While normally I'd prefer to be fully rested and at maximum ability, we're only reviewing the list and doing a lot of practice dancing, with occasional reviews of any problem calls or sequences. We're also tossing in the most common flourishes as time allows. If I have to teach a class with only half a brain, this is a good one to do.
