Last night's C1 square dancing workshop went amazingly well. In fact, it's the best our group has ever danced! After weeks of stumbling our way through the C1 list with barely a tip fully intact, it seems we crossed a threshold and actually hold our own with a degree of smoothness and grace. Our square did explode a couple of times through the night but they were by far the exception.

This was our last workshop for this year but hope to restart again in early January. Kent & I will be able to attend Mondays with [livejournal.com profile] justetthon in the new year so the need for the Wednesday night sessions isn't as great for us. We don't have a caller for Wednesday, January 3 yet, but I'm hoping to con Warren into calling some, and I hope to write some material I can test-drive before the February AC/DC.

Exhaustion

The past few days on a work-related project --combined with my prior evening commitments-- have left me utterly exhausted.

The work project has consumed an average of 10 hours per day for the past four business days. It wouldn't be a bit deal if it wasn't all caused by artificial deadlines and poor planning on the part of upper management. Worse, the project took so long was because a number of application owners & managers were exceedingly lazy in their reporting: had they done their jobs, I wouldn't have to bust my ass. Still worse yet, most of the work I've prepared will be tossed in a couple of weeks anyway as outdated. And I have a number of other projects which are now late because of this nightmare; because we're furloughing our contractors through the rest of the calendar year, I have no resources with which to catch up.

You can imagine how happy this makes me.

Preparation and execution of the Monday night square dance class took a block of time, as did last night's C1 workshop. At least I had Tuesday night and tonight to myself. Next week, I'm booked Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights. Shoot me now.

I still have a tonne of xmas and birthday shopping to get done but I see no space in my schedule for it to actually happen and this pisses me off to no end. I had an early start this year and thought all would be well, but work has dissolved into a flavour of hell I haven't seen in a while and don't find particularly palatable. [livejournal.com profile] paigemom: Baby's birthday present will be late, but it is indeed coming.

If I ever find out who decided it would be cute to have xmas near the month-end and calendar year-end, I will take time out of my overloaded schedule to desecrate their grave and hunt down their descendants. My goal in life is to survive to see December 26, preferably without going postal.

Enough LJ for now... I have to go work on yet another artificial deadline.

Sorry I haven't been able to wish you happiness earlier in the day, but I trust you weren't waiting for my greetings before proceeding to a joyous birthday!
