DCLS Mainstream Class, Week #10
Nov. 21st, 2006 10:38 amAttendance was down this week, possibly due to the Thanksgiving holiday: I know some folks are taking the entire week for travel. Still, we had a full square with a few spare angels and all were on time so we started promptly at 7:30 PM.
The first half-hour was used to review the list of calls thus far. Almost all were handled very smoothly, including "circle to a line" which caused no end of trauma last week.
New material included: flutter wheel, reverse flutter wheel, sweep 1/4, box the gnat, eight chain thru and dosado to a wave. We also revisited split circulate: it had been introduced a couple of weeks ago but it was clearly causing confusion with the regular circulates so we intentionally dropped it for a while to focus on all eight circulate patterns. There's still occasional confusion between trade and circulate but that's a listening skill rather than a dancing skill, and they're improving on that front too.
By the end of the evening, all was moving rather smoothly and we ended on a high night. There's no club night this week dues to Thanksgiving and the following club night is advanced/challenge night so we'll have two more classes before the next Mainstream club night. At that point, there will only be 4-5 calls left to go!
