The Weather Channel just reported the DC area can expect near record high temperatures today & tomorrow with a heat index of about 110 degrees F.

Have I mentioned in the last 30 seconds or so how grateful I am for air conditioning? Well, I am.

The power grid is really gonna feel this one...

I just finished uploading 304 photos --mostly the Anaheim IAGSDC convention-- to Adoramapix.com for printing. For 4x6 prints in lots of 300+ at a time, the cost drops to $0.16 per photo, higher than I'd like but not bad. I'm willing to pay extra because they are one of the few companies --Shutterfly being the other one I've found so far-- which will print the file name, the time & date stamp and a 20 character caption on the back. Since I usually do this manually on all of my photos, this will save me an enormous amount of processing time.

It's a little thing but it was the major selling point this time. So many photo printing companies either didn't offer the feature or didn't mention it on their web site.

Co-trailer trash [livejournal.com profile] jearbear65 & David telephoned us Sunday afternoon with a proposal. They heard the Dixie Chicks would be playing at the Verizon Center in DC and were considering driving during the day Friday to attend the Friday night concert: (a) would they be able to crash chez nous this weekend, and (b) would we be interested in attending with them?

We collectively decided to proceed with the plan, and [livejournal.com profile] kent4str picked up the tickets in downtown DC this afternoon. [livejournal.com profile] jearbear65 was originally going to order them, but Ticketmaster wanted $78/ticket plus $14/ticket service & handling charge. By obtaining them at the outlet at Hecht's near his office, Kent saved $13/ticket in extra charges. Screw you, Ticketmaster!

Anyway, we're off to the concert this Friday! Whee!

This evening, I drove to the bank to deposit some checks and get some cash from the ATM. The volunteer fire department next door had the following on their electronic sign in front of the firehall:

Volunteers needed!
No pay.
Long hours.
Cool hats!
