Congrats on another year well done! With a little luck, we'll see more of you in the next one!

I was at work early today, not because I wanted to particularly but out of (a) fear of the backlog and (b) because I'm still adjusting to the time zone shift following our west coast fun.

Fortunately, the backlog isn't as ugly as it could have been. While there are a number of must-do tasks in the queue and certain managers keep redefining policies & standards even as I'm writing & editing them, it's manageable. Just as well: around 2 PM, a wave of exhaustion struck. I was just barely able to get home before my energy level hit rock-bottom. There was just enough life left in the batteries to drag in the crate of mail --the post office had been holding our mail for the two weeks we were gone-- before I collapsed on the bed and fell instantly asleep, still fully dressed.

Two hours later, I was feeling much better although I severely regretted not removing my contact lenses before crashing.

I was planning to work on more writing stuff from home tonight, but to hell with it: there's nothing that can't wait until tomorrow. Instead, I went shopping.

The fun part of caller school is hearing different selections of music, most of which I had in the collection but occasionally there was something which caught my ear. All of these were scribbled down in my Palm for future consideration. I've just ordered 11 pieces of music from dosado.com, six of which were from the caller school list.

For good measure, I also purchased the software upgrade and two-year antivirus subscription for our primary square dance calling laptop. The only thing potentially worse than a virus nuking the machine in the middle of a dance would be those damned annoying pop-ups reminding me that the subscription had expired. We're good for another 731 days now.

Now I'm off to the bank to get some money. I have $4 left in my wallet, not enough for even lunch tomorrow. And then I have to deal with the mail. Oy.
