Last night, Kent signed the last of the paperwork for the purchase of the new minivan, replacing the one stolen about two weeks ago. After confirming all was in accordance with our documentation, setting all of the conveniences and familiarizing ourselves with the plethora of gizmos, we happily drove it off the lot and took it home.

Lazy Days

Today was an intentionally light day at the office. I've had a lot to work through the past couple of weeks and I intentionally cleared my plate for this day so I could wrap up loose ends on any outstanding issues before the weekend began. As it turned out, there were no loose ends to speak of, save for a telephone interview of a tech writer we've decided we're hiring on contract for 3 months, possibly longer if we can find the money in the budget.

It felt more like my work began when I arrived at home: there was much correspondence and ordering to be done.

My new 1 GB SD card for my Palm Tungsten E2 arrived. I quickly (a) filled it with the contents of my half-full 2 GB card (the 2 GB card doesn't work on the newer E2, only the older E), and (b) completed & mailed the rebate form for $14 for the card.

We wanted tickets to Disneyland for the upcoming IAGSDC convention in Anaheim. The information about how to actually acquire said tickets on the convention website is exceedingly obscure. After some e-mail with the convention folks, I learned they've taken down their online ticket ordering system so I'd have to send a check. OK, fine. A check for four tickets for Disneyland on June 29 is on its way.

I also finally got around to reading the newsletter from the 2007 convention organizers in Denver. There is a blurb & order form for reserving tickets to see Wicked at the Temple Buell Theatre on May 23, 2007. A check for four tickets is now on its way as well.

Birthday cards and one sympathy card for various people are now also in the post. I'm just a correspondence machine!

Once the flurry of posting was complete, I turned my attention to completing the Form 1023 "Application for Recognition of Exemption Under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code" for the 2009 IAGSDC convention. For those not cursed with arcane knowledge of American federal gov't IRS bureaucracy, this form is to apply for charity status for an organization, allowing us to avoid income taxes and give tax-deductible receipts for donations. I have most of the information at my fingertips --I'm secretary of the corporation-- but there are some chunks I'll need to dig up. Denver (2007) has made their application available so I'm going to go digging through their successful application to plagiarize obtain inspiration. Whee.

No big plans for the weekend... just errands here & there and generally catching up on domestic responsibilities.
