I'm not a morning person. Never have been, never will be.

This Saturday was the first of a new Mainstream-level square dance class with the DC Lambda Squares. Although we weren't calling or teaching, Kent & I committed to being present in case experienced dancers were required to fill in on the dance floor. The class started at 9 AM so the alarm went off at 7. Ugh.

Daytime )

Class wrapped up shortly after 3 PM and although I hadn't danced a step, I was feeling exhausted. Too many early mornings following too many late nights. We crawled home and napped very soundly for two hours.

Evening )

We were home by 1 AM or so and promptly headed for bed.

I didn't really have much planned for today so I suppose I can't really disappointment myself by doing nothing extraordinarily useful.

Kent left at 1 PM to set up & run lights for a fundraiser of the Lesbian & Gay Chorus of Washington DC so I have the house to myself... ahhhhh!

So far, I've:

  • had lunch, run the dishwasher and two loads of laundry.
  • upgraded my old Toshiba laptop to Windows XP. It had been running Win98 since it was built, but recent Windows patches have made the machine unusable and reinstalling Win98 went nowhere. Hopefully, XP will help it along somewhat. Failing that, I'll be shopping for a newer laptop sooner than I had anticipated.
  • won a Tungsten E2 on eBay for $120. My Tungsten E is showing its age and has hit the floor once too often. Getting a similar model will let me use the existing cables, accessories & software; adding Bluetooth will let me use it with my cell phone & sync to my Mac without cables.
  • finished listening to the heap of Hanhurst sampler tapes. Callers can subscribe to the tape service to hear samples of new music to decide which to purchase and which to ignore. Sean from Philadelphia sent me a box of 40-odd tapes he was given years ago. I've added another 20 to the lot and am now looking for other callers to whom I can pass along the box.

Some time after 5 PM, I'll be heading down to Arlington to visit with a friend who has just returned from a ski vacation in Colorado and perhaps beg a foot rub from him. Later, we'll meet up with Kent for dinner.

I was in the middle of a fantastic foot rub chez Jeff in Arlington when Kent called with some rather startling news: his minivan was gone.

He parked it at St. James' Church around 1 PM & finished unloading it around 1:30. Some time in the middle of the afternoon, in broad daylight, someone got a hankering to steal a clearly empty 1998 teal Dodge Caravan.

We are not amused. This only 3 months after my Civic was vandalized in a different area of Washington DC.

God, I hate this town.
