I learned over the weekend that the Wyndham Hotel in Washington DC, where local embarrasment & former mayor Marion Barry was caught using cocaine in an FBI sting operation in the 1990s, is the same hotel which decided last fall not to honour our contract for our advanced & challenge square dance fly-in.

Ack!

I arrived at work to discover that our regular Unix primary point-of-contact has called in sick and my boss as designated me to be his replacement for the day shift, 8 AM to 11 PM.

This would not be a problem except that I'm calling a square dance in Baltimore and will be unavailable from 6 PM onwards. Figures. At least my pager hasn't started screaming so far this morning.

On the good side, I couldn't sleep last night so I scribbled up some fresh A2 material for tonight's dance. Half is easy A2, the rest is just hard enough to push the envelope of some of our weaker dancers.

Canadian election coverage in the US

Fresh from the Canadian embassy in Washington DC...

C-SPAN intends to begin simulcasting the CBC election coverage at 9:00 pm EST and run until 1 am on either C-SPAN 1 or 2. The last polling stations in BC close at 10 pm EST, at which point Canadian media will begin announcing returns.

I'm probably going to head to the Elephant & Castle to join my fellow canucks to watch the results roll in. If nothing else, at least I'll be eating out instead of scrounging through the freezer for dinner. If you're in Washington DC, come join us. Live elsewhere in the US?
