Trailer vacation, Day 2
Sep. 4th, 2005 12:44 pmKent grilled pork chops while I cooked a sliced bean & red pepper medley and wild pecan rice. Dinner was delicious and we had plenty for everyone at our trailer and a few stragglers we dragged in and force-fed as they passed. Following post-dinner relaxation and a quick nap, we headed down to the showers for a quick rinse, then dressed for an evening at the rec hall.
The rec hall is an adventure in itself... it's where almost everyone in the campgrounds eventually stops in, either for an early drink & socializing, dancing or just lining up a rendez-vous at the barn, the on-site play site. Kent doesn't want to go to the barn under any circumstance, although I confess I'd like to head there a couple of times, just to see what would or would not transpire. In any case, we stayed at the rec hall, chatting & exchanging backrubs with a number of men, some we knew, some seasonal campers we had only just met and a few transient campers who were on their way elsewhere. Towards 1 AM --a rather late night for Kent but a time when I'm just warming up-- our co-trailer trash vanished with newly met friends from Connecticut. Shortly thereafter, Kent & I went back to the trailer of Gary & Jeff, seasonal campers we met recently. A good time was had by all, although it was almost noon before I woke up. :-)
After a quick shower and good-byes and exchanging contact info with the Connecticut boys (and their sweet-as-hell poodle Lucy) as they departed for home, we returned to the trailer. As I type this, Jerry is preparing a flour-free chocolate torte in honour of Kent's birthday while Kent is making vanilla ice cream on the deck. The campgrounds are serving hotdogs & hamburgers shortly so I'm going to sign off to go stuff my face with food I didn't have to cook.
