bjarvis: (Chesapeake Squares)
This was probably the most inactive I've ever been at a club night. It was the last of the open house events for Chesapeake Squares before the new Mainstream class commences in a couple of weeks. We were short just two bodies for an additional square so I spent most of the evening with five others sitting out the dancing to let our guests have as much floor time as possible.

Kent and I called a demo tip towards the end of the evening; the square had at least one person who danced MS rather weakly so we kept it simple. I called the patter, Kent did a singer; this is the first time we shared a tip in that fashion (we usually alternate figures for both). I had some Plus stuff I had wanted to experiment with, but that's on hold until next week. I also had a new singer I was working on which will have to wait for a future dance, although I could probably use the extra time to tune the vocals a little more.

We met with Dayle for dinner prior to dancing to plan the next stages in our path to calling glory :-^. The push is now on for us to start calling Advanced. Our homework assignment is to analyze the A1 & A2 lists, write & test a series of figures and generate at least 5 get-outs for each of the following positions: zero box, zero line, two-faced line. And have it all ready to dance next Tuesday.

I already have most of these items in my inventory of notes & scribblings so I'm more than half-way done; I should be able to finish up while at the trailer this coming weekend. At the moment, I have no idea whatsoever how far along Kent is, but he has more intuitive calling ability so he won't have to burn up the brain cells in the same way I do. We'll see how it goes next Tuesday!
