bjarvis: (trailer)
I've just realized I've been at the office for about two hours, done a tonne o' stuff and almost none of it is actually work-related. In fact, I have practically nothing work-related to even think about at the moment as all of my projects are on hold, pending the results/progress/surrender of other people.

We're heading to the trailer in West Virginia Friday morning, dragging along friends Brian H. from Baltimore and Andrew from NYC. It's been over a month since we were last there and I could really use a weekend of lounging.

Kent, as usual, is going a bit overboard on the menu. We blew $250 last night on groceries & supplies. OK, only half of it was directed at the weekend trip and half of that will likely be frozen for future consumption, but it's still a bit much. Good thing he'll be doing most of the cooking.

As soon as I say that I'm having a boring morning, a major server spontaneously crashes and there's loads of excitement. I'm running fsck on some large file systems at the moment (one more reason why we should have Veritas FS rather than UFS in use on most of our machines). And a colleague called, begging me to wrestle a Sun E450 (200 lbs of server) into a cabinet for him so he doesn't have to drive to my data center.

The computer gods are in a cruel bunch.

Saw this a while ago and loved it... it so sounds like my parents.

Dear Frek,

Today I got my pogey from the feds so I went and bought myself a 2-4 and a mickey of screech. Last time I had screech was when I was on The Rock. Bunch of hosers there I tell you, and I swear they are all offside. It was the summer of 03 and also visited The Peg, Hogtown and had my birthday in Cowtown. Personally I’m from Lotus Land. It’s a nice place, but I wouldn’t mind being east a bit to experience the Chinook one year.

Anyway, I continued shopping, and drove a couple of clicks to the nearest Tim’s. Got myself a double double then headed over to pick myself up some poutine for dinner. Still had some loonies and toonies left so I went and picked up some Homo milk, then headed home. I kicked off my runners, then flopped down on the chesterfield to watch the tories and the grits battle it out. Anyway, I’m just being a keener now so I’ll take off.

Love, you’re favourite puck bunny, Aurora.
