bjarvis: (trailer)

I've just realized I've been at the office for about two hours, done a tonne o' stuff and almost none of it is actually work-related. In fact, I have practically nothing work-related to even think about at the moment as all of my projects are on hold, pending the results/progress/surrender of other people.

We're heading to the trailer in West Virginia Friday morning, dragging along friends Brian H. from Baltimore and Andrew from NYC. It's been over a month since we were last there and I could really use a weekend of lounging.

Kent, as usual, is going a bit overboard on the menu. We blew $250 last night on groceries & supplies. OK, only half of it was directed at the weekend trip and half of that will likely be frozen for future consumption, but it's still a bit much. Good thing he'll be doing most of the cooking.

I have to take a quick Canadian lesson. "Tonne"? :-)

I had a year of training before I could speak coherently and understand Danny's British-isms. Came in handy when we visited Britain in '03! Non-stop 'clockwork-orange-toothpick-in-the-eye' watching of BBC America help a lot! I even had a crash course in Rhyming Slang.

Do you know Stephen Crutchfield (DC Chorus) and his partner Rick? They have a place in West Va, too...

A "ton" is 2000 lbs (imperial measure, we'd say). A "tonne" is 1000 kg.

I know Stephen & Rick peripherally via chorus connections but only barely.
