Does anyone think Nancy Pelosi is all that scary as a potential house leader?

I'm more afraid she may not have the skills required to solidify a new majority, hold to the advertised agenda and build a base for the 2008 election cycle. Going insane with power or launching a series of extreme left-wing initiatives seem extremely unlikely, despite the demonization of her over the past number of months.

Actually, having lived with her as a local politician for 25 years ... nah, she's not scary at all. She is, however, NOT terribly mediagenic. Her public presentation skills are awful.

Her organizational skills and ability to translate what she hears from her constituents to useful legislative actions that benefit those same constituents ... are actually pretty good.

She just can't communicate publicly for shit.

Ditto what [livejournal.com profile] allanh said.

She's not great on camera, although my best straight friend who met her in person says she's got a great rack, especially for woman of her age. But seriously, this is a very, very smart political creature. I've heard that she raised tons of money for the newly elected (or re-elected) members and that should give her plenty of power over them, given the all-important nature of filthy lucre in politics.
