This Week/Month/Year in Square Dancing

cuyahogarvr, kent4str and I will be attending the annual CALLERLAB convention. This year, I'm a panelist with Kris Jensen on tech marketing; if you're attending, look for our session 10:30am Monday morning in the Ballroom Grande B.
I'm also collecting signatures for the petition to nominate Barry Clasper to the CALLERLAB board of governors.kent4str and I have signed... we need 23 more at a minimum so watch for me and sign on!
kent4str and I have some hosting responsibilities for the Chesapeake Squares' "Pass the Ocean, Hon!" fly-in April 29-May 1. There are several GCA guest caller spots which we'll emcee and possibly call; I'm also calling an hour of square dance games --fun & unusual things with non-square squares and other quirky stuff.
caller_dayle is teaching a C2 boot camp/review weekend for the Independence Squares in Wilmington, DE, the first weekend of June. I'd like to attend as an angel to help them along but I'm calling for the Zig Zaggers that Friday so my angel opportunities may be restricted to Saturday. More news as it develops.
I've been tentatively booked by the Independence Squares to call a dance for them in July. The contract should be sent along soon and we'll get that finalized.
We're now attempting to assemble a C3A boot camp for the late summer or early fall here in the greater DC area. Arrangements are still a little fuzzy but we'd need at least ten paying dancers and a handful of angels to pull this off, as well as a dance space. For maximum benefit, we want everyone to study & memorize the definitions beforehand, come for a full weekend class, then come back again on a subsequent weekend to workshop & practice before we're all unleashed upon the unsuspecting C3A world.
I know of at least six dancers already who are keen & able... I don't think it will take much effort to drum up another four but that can wait until we're back from Las Vegas.
Abe Feldman is working on assembling a GCA caller dance as a fundraiser for DCLS' Warren Jaquith Fund, a scholarship fund maintained by DCLS to assist members with their dues, event admission & registration costs, etc.. He's targeting a Saturday in September although that may be in flux after I pointed out potential conflicts with Bill Harrison's C1 concepts weekend and Bill Harrison & John Marshall's joint C2 weekend in York, PA --both of which Abe would like to attend. :-)
Somewhere in this mess, I still need to make time & arrangements for a caller workshop chez nous. I also need to get some additional information from various people so I can finish my update of the DC Lambda Squares' board operations manual.
Hmmm... it would appear at least 50% of my total square dance time is actually management & administrivia. Good thing I like that kind of work as much as I love the actual dancing. :-)
