Update from Roseland Resort

bjarvisThis past weekend, I was conversing with many folks about our trailer at Roseland Resort, a gay campground in West Virginia --we're heading there for this upcoming Memorial Day weekend. The campground staff sent out a weekly update this morning which mentions some housekeeping stuff and lots about upcoming events.
This weekend May 21-25 is our Memorial Day Weekend Celebration - Think Pink Weekend . We hope you can join us for some fun.
Since it is a busier weekend we wanted to give you a listing of all the activities and times. All locations and times are subject to change. Please check the posted signs for notices of changes. All outdoor activities are weather dependent and are subject to location and time changes.
Thursday Night - 9 pm - Roseland Movie Night
Friday - Noon to 2pm Games in Friendship Hall. Prizes awarded. 3-5pm Happy Hour at the Cabana Deck
9pm - Barbie Dance - Create a new look for our favorite doll - pink is strongly suggested - Barbie rip-offs permitted - use your imagination - even you could be a Barbie - Prizes awarded for the most creative Barbie - BOOTS TO BALLS 50/50 Raffle will take place at the dance. Tickets are $1 for 1, $5 for 7 and boots to balls for $10. This will be a benefit for the Upper Ohio Valley AIDS Task Force.
Saturday - Morning - The (Lonnie/Alex/Jim/Chad/Jim) drink cart will be around to your site, selling specialty drinks. The proceeds of this go to our Bear Fair fundraiser for the Upper Ohio Valley AIDS Task Force
2pm - BINGO in Friendship Hall
9pm - Pretty in Pink Party - Cabana Deck - Pink attire strongly encouraged
Sunday - 10:30am - 12:30pm - Pink Champagne Drag Brunch - $8.00 per person - Reservations necessary and pink drag suggested
Happy Hour 3-5pm on the Santa Fe Deck
9pm - Uniform Dance Friendship Hall - tired of the pink? wear the uniform you want.
THERE WILL ALSO BE STRIPPERS HERE PERFORMING DURING THE WEEKEND. WE WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS AS LAST TIME MANY OF YOU SAID IF YOU HAD KNOWN YOU WOULD HAVE HAD DOLLARS FOR TIPPING THE STRIPPERS.
There will also be special surprises during the weekend. So make sure you attend all the events to see them all!
WALNUT TREE CAFE: The Walnut Tree Cafe will be open for lunch this weekend. TORSO - Torso will also be open this weekend. Stop in and check out all the new items!
PROM WEEKEND SUMMARY: Those that were here had a great weekend.
BLACK WATER: The first Black Water pump was done. The the next date is Wednesday, June 24 and then July 22. The price is the same this year as last - $50 per pump. You must stop in the store and sign up for this service. The charge is then tabbed to your account. You may sign up for all the pumps during the season. If you do so, it is your responsibility to let us know if
you don't want a pump performed on a given month. If one is done, and you did not inform us otherwise, you will be charged.
ELECTRICITY CHARGES: Your seasonal tab was charged for your electric usage. This reading is from October 16, 2008 thru the afternoon of May 16, 2009. The electric charge per kilowatt is that same this year as last. We will read the meters once each month and let you know the date that the reading will cover.
SILENT AUCTIONS: The year we will be doing 2 silent auctions to benefit the Upper Ohio Valley AIDS Task Force. The first will be the weekend of July 16-20 - Leather Weekend and the second during our Bear Fair. These really bring in the additional $$ that really help us support such a great organization and their work. We had some great items donated by our seasonals last year. If you would like to donate something this year please see Randy. Thank you in advance for your support! We would like the products to focus more on Leather items during the July 16-18 Auction.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: We still have an opening for a Cafe Waiter for some of the busier weekends and holidays. Please contact us immediately if you are interested in making some extra cash while you are here on the weekend. The hours are minimal so they should not interfere with your Roseland Fun. 4TH MR ROSELAND DADDY & 1ST MR ROSELAND LEATHER COMPETITIONS: These events will take place on the June 11-15 Weekend. There is no entry fee to participate. All seasonals are welcome to participate in one or both contests. There will be some fantastic prizes awarded to the winners INCLUDING CASH. We have Torso and Leather411.com as two of our sponsors. There will also be other prizes awarded to the winners. We are also in contact with our prior Daddy winners to see if they can make a guest appearance during the contest. The contest will also feature the final performance at Roseland for Eda Bagel. She will be moving and won't be able to come back often for a visit. This event will take place during the Saturday night festivities with dancing to follow. If you are interested in competing please let Randy know as soon as possible.
PRELIMINARY BEAR FAIR INFORMATION: We ask e ach Seasonal to make a basket for the prizes for Bear Fair. THIS WILL BE A COMPETITION!!! Winners will receive some great prizes! The basket should be a minimum of a $50 value. They must be submitted by the weekend before BEAR FAIR. Please let Randy know by Labor Day if you are going to participate. If all participate this will give us a great prize pool for BEAR FAIR and all of you a chance to win some great prizes too. Your basket should be a theme basket of some kind. It might be a "Wake Me Up" Basket filled with Coffee, an Alarm Clock, etc. Be creative! Risque is OK! We want to hit $8,000 this year and hope that you will all help us reach this lofty goal!
UPPER OHIO VALLEY AIDS TASK FORCE FUNDRAISING: Each year our Bear Fair has been a fundraiser for this great organization. This year is no different. However, we want to be able to meet a new goal of an $8,000 donation. In order to do this we will be doing various fundraising activities during the summer. We will have Boots to Balls 50/50 raffles, Silent Auctions, Jello
Shots and the Drink Cart. We hope that you will be generous and participate in these fundraising activities.
SEASONAL YEARLY INFORMATION: We are still getting some returns on e-mails sent to our seasonals. We have updated all those who stopped in the store and gave us new information. We ask that you please remember to let us know if you change your mailing address, e-mail or phone number. You also need to check in and check your guests in each weekend. Check out when you leave the property at the end of the weekend.
SEASONAL TABS: Your Seasonal Tab must be kept current. We ask that this year you pay your tab monthly. If there are no payments made to a tab in a month you will not be able to use your tab ability until you pay the balance. We will send you a monthly notice of your balance. This will be for those who keep a balance over $50 on their tab.
INSURANCE RELEASE FORM & CONSTRUCTION PERMIT FORM: These Forms for doing your own construction at your site are now available. See Daniel to get your copy. Remember all construction must be approved by Daniel before you start. If not, you may be asked to halt construction and remove what you have already built. Daniel is the only one who can give you these forms!
OUTSIDE CONTRACTORS: Many of you have been bringing in outside contractors for specific purposes. This includes phone companies, repairmen, deliveries, etc. You must inform Roseland before you make arrangements with these people! We must also be told of the date and approximate time that they will be on the property. If we don't know about their visit we may not permit them on the property. Just recently we had a delivery that we had no idea was arriving on property. We allowed them to leave the delivery, but in the future we may not do so.
FIRE WOOD: The cost is $60 plus tax for a truck load. Please be advised that if you are going to want firewood delivered for the Memorial Day weekend you need to let us know by Tuesday, May 19. Otherwise you may not receive the wood in a timely fashion!
