IAGSDC Convention Update

As expected, there was a flurry of registration activity in the last couple of days of 2008 as the registration rate went up January 1, 2009. We also had a stack in our mailbox which took me a while to process.
I've intentionally left out the stats sorting by club or by state as we've reached an interesting tipping point which makes them somewhat meaningless: a vast number of registrants have not told us their affiliated club.
Largely, it's a quirk of the online registration system: even if a user lists a club in their personal profile, that value is by design not carried forward when they register so that those with multiple clubs could select their affiliation for any specific event. Unless one is especially conscientious, the field is left blank. Nearly 1/3 of registrants have, knowingly or not, no club affiliation listed.
Sorting by state doesn't really mean much either. There's a huge number from California --big surprise-- but it would be nearly impossible to guess which of the SF Bay area clubs a person might belong to. I live in Maryland but my primarily club is DC; indeed, the bulk of DC Lambda Squares dancers live in Virginia.
