bjarvis: (sleeping)

Today started oddly, and a little too early.

I woke up at 5 AM sharp. I felt well and refreshed; if it wasn't so damned early, I would have prepped for work immediately. Instead, I glanced at the clock, realized I had two more hours to sleep and calmly dozed off again.

The alarm shattered my sleep at 7 AM. This time, I felt sluggish with dizzy spells. WTF?!

Showered & dressed, I felt better. Still a little less than myself but manageable so I headed to work in the minivan; since my car had a flat yesterday and has only the tiny donut spare, I wasn't about to drive it 30 miles to work at 70 mph. The minivan is a little oversized for my purposes but is otherwise a comfortable ride. If I had a repeat of my

Both of my teammates in Urbana were out today, one on vacation, the other out sick. Figures. Fortunately, there was nothing particularly catastrophic on the agenda: generate some reports, collect Sarbanes-Oxley compliance evidence, update status reports, build a couple of servers, answer user queries, etc..

Once home, I swapped vehicles to take my flat tire to be repaired. Alas, the nail which had caused the flat did a lot of damage so it was a loss; I had to instead purchase a replacement tire which was mounted on the car while I waited. Unfortunately, heat & humidity in DC was rather high today --not quite hideous, but close-- and the waiting area & shop had no air conditioning. I spent most of the hour sitting on the steps outside at the front of the building, sipping chilled water and keeping to the shade.

By 6:30 PM, I was running very low on energy. I really needed a nap. With the tire replaced and my car fully operational again, I collected Kent from the subway, we foraged for food in Aspen Hill with a quick side trip to Home Depot, then headed for home. I had a quick nap, arose to watch this week's Dr. Who and am currently prepping for bed.

We're planning to do a little renovation work on the master bathroom tomorrow, followed by X Men III with Jeff M, then dinner.

We're both enjoying this iteration of Dr Who quite a bit...I rarely watched it in reruns, but this one has pretty high production values, considering!

Hope you're not catching 'something'...I feel that way in the mornings sometimes. Wide awake and ready to go hours before it's time to get up, but then if I go back to sleep for 90 minutes to 2 hours, I feel like hell when I wake up again. Ugh.

And vastly better writing... the dialogue is much improved and wittier.
