Weekend Report
Jul. 29th, 2007 09:21 pmSaturday afternoon, I was off to Bowie, MD, to attend a pre-wedding party in honour of a work colleague. I'm delighted Darrell is getting hitched; this was the first time I had met the fiancee, Gretchen, and she seems a wonderful person.
There were a number of folks from my office as well as a handful of former contractors and full-time employees who have since moved on, either voluntarily or otherwise. Catching up was a lot of fun, and one should never pass up a chance to network actively with trusted sources.
Saturday evening,
cuyahogarvr,
kent4str and I went to see Pixar's latest creation, Ratatouille, at a cinema in Wheaton, MD. It's a fun piece of work and we recommend it.
We lazed around the house Sunday morning, sleeping in and catching up on e-mail. Towards 11 AM, I drove us up to Baltimore to rendez-vous at the Baltimore Museum of Art with Dave R. for brunch and then browsing the collection. Following several hours of museum touring, we headed en masse over to Cold Stone Creamery for ice cream, then over to Dave's house to relax and generally vegetate.

Alas, by 5 PM, it was time to take <user site="livejournal.com" user="cuyahogarvr"> to BWI for his return trip to Cleveland. We learned much later that his flight was massively delayed by extensive heavy rains through the Baltimore area. Clever sod that he is, he got himself a seat on an earlier flight, also delayed. The next effect was that his arrival in Cleveland was only somewhat late instead of massively late. I'm looking forward to the day when we won't have to shuttle him to the airport at all.
