Blast from the Past

bjarvisOne of the more horrifying traditions among a circle of friends of mine in Toronto was the passing of the dreaded gift.
This particular gift, still in its original shrinkwrap, began circulating decades ago. Whoever received it would be obliged to repackage it --preferably in some creative way to utterly disguise its nature-- then re-gift it to someone else at some future event --birthday, anniversary, housewarming, detox, whatever-- when they least expect it.

kent4str knew this tradition and contacted John S. in Toronto to see if the item could be located for the purpose of returning this particular abomination to my life. John couldn't locate it --no one would admit having it-- so he found an identical one on eBay and shipped it down to the US for us.
Now I have to wrap up the damn thing and send it along to someone else. The only snag is that as my circle of friends age, we're getting closer & closer to the possibility of a heart attack, or at least to the point where "life imprisonment" doesn't mean much as it once did.
