Birthday Weekend: Friday
Feb. 5th, 2007 08:48 amI haven't posted much all weekend because I've been up to my ears in nearly non-stop birthday celebrations.
I turned 40 on Tuesday, Jan 30.
cuyahogarvr was in town the prior weekend for
kent4str's concert with the LGCW concert so we had some minor celebrating of our own, including a birthday night on the town.
The three of us went square dancing in Baltimore where the Chesapeake Squares surprised me with round of "Happy Birthday," a card and cake --and had me call a tip 'cause, hey, ya gotta sing for your dinner.
Wednesday was our C1 workshop in Virginia. The gang gave me a card, Lloyd brought a stack of Coffee Crisp bars, Beth surprised me with a celebratory platter of lemon squares, Michael M. gave me a lovely gourmet chocolate bar & card and such.
Thursday evening was largely spent cleaning at home in preparation for an onslaught of guests for the weekend for the real birthday celebrations...
jearbear65oh & David would be flying in from Columbus Friday night and various other local friends would be coming Saturday with the strong possibility of a number of guests spending the night.
Friday, I telecommuted from home. I got much work accomplished, but more importantly by shaving off the commute time, I was able to dedicate at least two full additional hours to preparations, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping and such. It made a world of difference. Around 5 PM,
kent4str and I headed to BWI to collect Jerry & David: traffic was pure hell thanks to an evil combination of light rain and rush hour, but we did get there safely.
We met them at the luggage carousel and
jearbear65oh told me to close my eyes and turn around for my first big birthday surprise. When I did so and was allowed to reopen my eyes, there was
cuyahogarvr! The sneaky bastards had connived to fly him back to DC for my birthday not 48 hours after I personally dropped him off at the airport to deliver him back to Cleveland! (My immediate first thought after the initial shock was, "Missed your flight?")
tdjohnsn and
rlegters were also toying with the idea of flying to the east coast for my birthday weekend as well, but practicality required them to send their best wishes only. Thanks for even considering it though!
