Kent had already done his research on what model of minivan he wanted to replace the stolen one which was returned to us but declared totalled by the insurance company. His furry heart was set on a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan with power windows & doors, fold-away rear seats, etc.. And last night, we went shopping, returning to the dealership from which he purchased the late minivan because they treated us well the last time.

The dealer again treated us very well, answered all questions directly, let us poke & prod a Grand Caravan that was on the premises, etc.. And we rewarded their attentiveness with a sale. Better yet, there was Grand Caravan which matched Kent's requirements, colour preferences, etc., at one of the dealer's other sites so we don't have to wait for factory delivery. The papers were signed last night, Kent wrote a check for $25,800 --we're financing it through our household line of equity-- and the new polished vehicle will be collected from the dealer tonight for a final check-through and test-drive. Unless there is some catastrophic flaw with this particular specimen, there will be a new vehicle in our driveway by 8 PM tonight.

Note to [livejournal.com profile] paigemom: it's "magnesium pearl" with an interior of slate grey, cloth seats.

Now he just has to finish the paperwork on the insurance claim for the old one.

We always referred to a friend's T&C as "The Enterprise" for all of the bells and whistles it had. Good choice!

That sounds excellent, in reality the theft of your previous van was probably a good thing. I am assuming that this new model will have a security system fitted so as to avoid repeat performances? Would love to see a pic when it arrives, I know you'll enjoy it.

I would want mine in that bright red if I were to get one (assuming it's still available). :-)

I did like that teal they had at that time though.

Well, I didn't want to be the one to say it, but yes, it's tasteful and it's boring.

In Columbia, MD, there is a list of five or six colours you can paint your house, and one of them has been dubbed "Tasteful Columbia Beige" by a friend of mine who used to live there.

Yeah, the new beast comes with the "premium package" which includes a built-in security alarm, garage door remote and a tonne of other little gizmos.

Toys! Lots of toys! :-)

It's not beige... it's more an interesting irridescent charcoal with undertones of green or teal, depending on the lighting. Hopefully a few photos will capture the colour better than my words.

The dealer we were visiting showed us the Caravans they had on various affiliated lots... the white, silver and midnight blue vans were overstocked, indicating they weren't big sellers. The "magnesium pearl" we wanted seemed popular, as did "atlantic blue" and "inferno red."

Our late minivan was "island teal."

Mazel tov. So you're going to wait eight days, then clip a little bit off the end of the tailpipe?

Though at the rate I'm going, I'll be a virgin againg in no time.
