Checking its status online indicates that they have in fact converted it to "expedited". However, it says to expect our passports on 02/07/2006, and this being the US Government I'm sure they don't mean July 2. This is not exactly comforting, considering that this is newly updated either today or late yesterday.
I think another phone call (probably complete with 5-10 minutes on hold) is in order.
