Today at my sister's in Mississauga was a quadruple birthday party for four relatives of mine (cumulative age 75), and I rented a car from Mr Avis. I booked (and pre-paid for) a (compact/subcompact) Hyundai Accent or similar. What I was actually offered was [drumroll] a Kia Soul.
When I pointed out that this was not a compact, as ordered and contracted, the clerk got quite petulant, as if their inventory control issues were of MY generation: "this happens all the time, you KNOW we get very few compacts shipped in..." [eyeroll. This has actually got to the point I think I need to complain further up the ladder]
So... I'm driving a Kia Soul myself right now. It's not the nicest thing to park (though it *does* have a reverse-movement camera), and it's NOT a compact, and I continue to be unfavourably impressed. Especially after I gassed up this evening, prior to returning it, and the gas gauge didn't return to F.
