bjarvis: (Chesapeake Squares)

Last night went well overall. The Plus tips were kept at class-level to accommodate one dancer who is enrolled in DC's Plus class, a short list of 10-11 calls; while I could improvise the patter around that, I quickly realized composing singing formations on the fly would be a disaster, so I kept those at a high level of Mainstream.

I used the A2 material I had composed last weekend. Most modules were OK, one was great and another was a bit of a disaster.

Here's the blob in question:
Heads wheel thru, Pass in, Pass out, [...]
Once dancer was doing it as a pass thru & quarter out from his partner, rather than a pass thru & quarter out from the center of the square. I'm not sure if I was asking too much, if he doesn't know his A2 as well as he thinks, or if he was just having a bad day. Thoughts, anyone?

Kent's calling was more stop-and-go than usual; recent chorus performances & rehearsal has prevented him from using spare time to practice at home and I think it showed a little.

Our last singing call, a joint number per usual, of the night was fun for the most part. I sight-called one figure and nailed is perfectly: good flow, perfect timing and appropriate alignment of bodies. Yay me! My next figure, however, misfired so badly people in neighbouring counties were running for their bomb shelters. Oops. I managed to repair in the closer and had everyone back with their original partner by the time the music stopped but it wasn't the solid high note I was hoping for at the end of the evening. Figures.

Dayle has the next two Tuesdays (barring last-minute rescheduling) so my next time on the mic will likely be in the GCA slots at ACDC.
