Yeah, I expected the in-house rates to be higher than outside purchases, but was surprised how cheap even the in-house rates are.
A coke in an upscale US hotel would probably cost $3-6 for something I could buy from a street vending machine for $1 or from a grocery store for even less. Here, the hotel coke (made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup!) goes for about $1, street vendors about $0.50.
Since I'm carefully avoiding drinking the tap water and sticking to canned beverages, I'm quite content to pay $1/can rather than the US rate. :-)
