When I went to Slovakia, I didn't figure out the light problem or remember how it worked for the first few days. It was really annoying sitting in the bathroom when the lights went out, and the odor-sucking fan stopped. Of course, no lights and not remembering where I put the card, and still being unfamiliar with the room layout didn't help in my search or staying injury-free.
The lights in the hallway were odd too. They weren't always on. They came on as you approached, stayed on if you moved enough to keep them on, and turned off as you stopped or walked far enough away. After being frightened by someone's silent but sudden illuminating appearance, it was even creepy walking through the hall at night, wondering if anyone was standing in the darkness beyond the lights, watching.
