I can't respond now but I will later. I agree with everything said above, but I have further details. The things you're worrying about are the right things, but they're minor and you shouldn't fret about them.
Bangalore is a modern city but it is unplanned and has amazingly horrible traffic. You must insist on staying at a western hotel. The Leela Palace downtown is opulent in the extreme. A friend is coming home today after a week there and he loved it. The Oberoi is also quite nice, although I never stayed there. I have had dinner there many times and it was the favorite of many friends. I have stayed at the Taj Vivanta and liked it.
