i'd respectfully disagree. it's a matter of what is historically recognized as within the ken of christian theology and what is not. jesus' purported visit to america isn't the sticking point, but rather it is the mormon theological stance vis-à-vis the divinity of jesus and the construction of the trinity. cult is typically used in conservative christianist circles when your unique reinvention of the world is at odds with mine.
both theological stances may strain credulity (after all, faith isn't about truth in the face of agreeable facts, but rather truth in the face of no evidence whatsoever), but the argument is interesting to watch.
