a) sick days / vacation days: make SURE that there isn't a case of "use it or lose it" floating around here (and complcations that may ensue by being employed kinda-sorta in two states, MD and CA). And if there IS a use-it-or-lose-it clause, MAKE SURE that you use them.
b) personal savings a/c: set it up now, even if you only put $20 in the account to start it. Once it's there, and you have distant-banking stuff in place (online, by mail, by banking machine), you can put small amounts in should the occasion arise. Those same amounts vaporise if there's no place to put them. Sure, pay down the credit cards, but an actual savings a/c really existing would not hurt.
