My director asked us as a team to fill out a quick personality survey and share our results. He doesn't take it particularly seriously --and neither do we-- but I suppose it's served its purpose in what it has revealed.

My director is "orange," leading by persuasion and entertainment. One of our project managers is "blue," inspiring and building self-esteem. All other in our division is "green," thinking and analytical.

Except for me. I'm "gold," dutiful, responsible, on-time, keeping everyone coordinated and focused.

On the theory that most people hire people just like them unless they are especially conscientious about finding talent which complements/supplements one's own weaknesses, I could see that green folks would hire those with a strong green streak. I was a telephone hire: they hired me and then met me in person a month later so my non-greeness flew under the radar. Then again, perhaps they knew what they were doing: since I'm the only person looking after their DC facility, gold is quite possibly the best choice they could make.

In any case, I still think the Myers-Briggs inventory is a better survey.
