Work continues to demand things which, well, I've never needed previously.

My smaller 14" monitors were adequate for all of my home projects but yesterday's code deployment made clear that I needed more screen real estate. Fortunately, there was a computer flea market in Laurel, MD, this weekend...

For $180 USD, here's a photo of my new 22" flat panel monitor, connected to the netbook I bought in January for work, taken with the Crackberry Storm I bought in February for work... Sensing a pattern here?

In other news, I finally figured out how to null out the settings in my old Jabra BT130 bluetooth earpiece so I could bond it with the Crackberry. Yay! And the extra ethernet cables I ordered for the data center should be arriving early next week.

I still need to get the wireless telephone headset working fully with the data center telephone --it's an earmuff style set so I can hear over the roar of the servers. I also need extra power cables which will let me plug new toys into the power strips of our server racks. There's always something.

March is question month. Got a question for me? Leave it here (screened).

Funny how prices have come way down on LCD monitors. When I bought my NEC LCD1765 17" monitor in 2004, it still commanded about $550 and I got it on sale for $500 and now you can get a basic 22" for not much and for around $250, get a widescreen version.

All that said, I am hoping I am not gonna have to do something w/ this aging beast of a PC or replace it that costs much to get it running well. FireFox is crashing still but the rest of the system seems to be holding steady since this morning's double blue screens of death incidences.

Fast Fine can't find certain things and I don't know what all else.

*sigh* if it's not one thing, it's something else...

I'm running a similar configuration, a docked notebook and a widescreen LCD, and it's SO convenient to have that second big screen. I can have AutoCAD or two documents on the LCD monitor and email or another program on the notebook screen. I actually really miss the extra "real estate" when I'm travelling with just the notebook.

It's nice that the new job is challenging you a bit, even if it's only on what new toys to buy.
