OMG, How Freaking Cool Is This?!
My flight from Dulles to San Francisco has wifi!
I'm 38,131 feet above sea level somewhere over Denver and I can check my email, update LJ and Facebook and update DC Diamond Circulate files, all from seat 19A!
According to Speakeasy.net's quick and dirty speed test, I'm getting 1922 kbps download speed and 296 kbps upload. I so wish I had traceroute on this laptop... I'd love to probe the network to see how this is set up. :-)
Now if only my Crackberry could get a signal... My Crackberry is now getting a signal and is going insane downloading hundreds of emails and Facebook updates. I think it's going to burst into flames from the sudden traffic.

Gawd, I can be such a nerd sometimes.

Oh, and there's a bug in the technology: if you have more than three apps open and you go to cnn.com (or is it google?), it takes out the power to two jet engines. So don't do that.

I hope this doesn't mean the advent of cell phone chatter on planes is upon us. I can't bear the thought of being trapped next to someone yelling into their cell phone for a couple of hours. I would have to kill them. Sorry, but it would be necessary.

I may just have to resort to drastic action if such a thing as you propose would ever happen.

After April, Randy and I wont be Virgin virgins, either. We're flying Virgin to Dulles for DCDC. (Note: Detailed instructions on how to get from Dulles to the Marriott would be most welcome at this point.)

That plane, however, did not have wifi. :-(
Air, rail & ground transportation is the theme of the next DCDC newsletter, due at the end of February. Depending on the date & time of your arrival, we might even be able to collect you at IAD.

Oh wait. You said "collect", not "pick up". Never mind. :)
