bjarvis: (home)

Since I began largely working from home, I've discovered how inadequate my home office really is. Still, things are improving.
1. I cleaned up a lot of desk space by catching up on filing, sorting and trashing.
2. We warmed it up enough that I no longer suffer frostbite by putting a cheap curtain across the open doorway and adding a portable electric heater.
3. I replaced my old laptop with a vastly smaller netbook which I totally love.
4. The office desperately needs task lighting. The LED lights [livejournal.com profile] kent4str purchased from Ikea didn't quite do the job so yesterday we returned them and purchased two 20" flourescent under-shelf lamps which we'll install later.

Today's installment is the addition of a Canon MF4370dn combo fax/laster printer/scanner:

My old cheap inkjet printer just wasn't up to par, my beat-up old fax machine sucked bilge water and I had no quick & easy means of photocopying papers when needed. Best Buy had this combo unit on sale for only $200; I was especially sold on the duplex printing/copying ability and the TCP/IP network port. For extra money, I could have purchased the colour model but I really don't need colour printing ability, however lovely it looks.

Now to re-arrange all of the existing toys in the office to make space for it...
