Windy

The weather has shifted dramatically in the greater Washington DC area. The temperature is dropping rapidly but the big news is the wind: it's averaging 30 mph with gusts to 50+ mph.

The major downside (for me) is that the household electricity is flickering in a nasty way. The machines I'm working on are all on UPS but our broadband connection is fairly fragile so we're occasionally losing Internet connectivity.

So far, the only wind-related damage is this:

It was an old tree already slated for removal. I guess the timetable has been moved up.

Crazy windy here, too. And it's recycling day. Someone's unanchored pizza box just blew up on my porch and banged into my front door. I thought I had a visitor.

Good think Isaac & Goldie (for non-locals - I'm not making that up) weren't parked there.

You should at least go drag it out of the street.

It's windy in Pennsylvania, too.

My four UPS's have gone off briefly a couple of times today. I'm avoiding my office for fear of getting a punctured eardrum should we have a power disturbance while I'm in there.

34 degrees and 30 MPH wind gusts: my neighbor is out there with a leaf blower. WTF?
