The weather has shifted dramatically in the greater Washington DC area. The temperature is dropping rapidly but the big news is the wind: it's averaging 30 mph with gusts to 50+ mph.
The major downside (for me) is that the household electricity is flickering in a nasty way. The machines I'm working on are all on UPS but our broadband connection is fairly fragile so we're occasionally losing Internet connectivity.
So far, the only wind-related damage is this:

It was an old tree already slated for removal. I guess the timetable has been moved up.

Date: 2008-12-31 08:19 pm (UTC)My four UPS's have gone off briefly a couple of times today. I'm avoiding my office for fear of getting a punctured eardrum should we have a power disturbance while I'm in there.
34 degrees and 30 MPH wind gusts: my neighbor is out there with a leaf blower. WTF?
