I'm leaving my cube for the last time within the hour.

My personal items are all packed; I'm about to start walking them out to the car. I've sent my farewell email to the team, along with contact information for those who care to keep in touch. All work tickets are closed and all workflows are completed. Files have been distributed and the Inventory folks have been alerted to take away extra items from my cube and storage cabinets. I'm about to take my yellow safety vest, flash light and materials from my stint on the emergency response team to Security.

In another 15 minutes, all I'll have left to do is power down my laptop and turn it over to my manager, along with my badge, pager and VPN token.

I think I'm done.

Congrats

Mixed feelings? I know for me it's always hard to make an ending, even if it's required for something much better afterward. Congratulations on all of it!

Summer 2007, when I started my current position after 14 years in one old spot, was both wonderful and a bit scary.

May it be both for you, sir.

I would have kept the safety vest. You never know when you might need one.... Congrats on the new beginning!
