Question for CALLERLAB Members...

I was thinking about ordering official CALLERLAB badges for [livejournal.com profile] kent4str and myself 'cause we just don't have enough freakin' name badges cluttering up our house to be identifiable at the upcoming convention next month.

Alas, the CALLERLAB site has an order form but no examples of what the badges look like. In particular, is the member name printed on it or is that an additional dangle/attachable panel?

I'd call CALLERLAB but they're not open for biz yet this morning and I thought I'd get this covered while I had it on my mind. (And yes, I'm being lazy.)

member name and location are engraved...

but... your convention reg pack will include a "convention badge" (with name and city) and that's the only badge most people wear during the convention, as it is specific to the convention and shows that you are registered and allowed to eat.

Cool! I'd still like to get the badges but I'll probably wait until we're on-site... presuming that order forms and such will be made available with the other official wares.

We're allowed to eat? Neat! Not that we couldn't stand to lose a few pounds, though...

If you want to eat, you must bring your badge. It became a running joke in Reno.

mmm...it's a running gag at EVERY convention and likely goes back to the early 70s!

I have a Callerlab badge that I ordered 20 years ago or so and amazingly haven't lost it (whereas I keep misplacing my two Wilde Bunch badges). I wear it often.

It's a good thing to order, but you won't need it for convention. Every convention has it's own specialized theme badge that you're required to wear to prove registration. It is large enough to hang the panelist/moderator/etc ribbons from.

Lately, they've been heeding the poor close-up eyesight of us souls that need reading glasses and make people's names on the badges nearly large enough to read.

... in your boat

I too still seem to have my Callerlab engraved name badge that I acquired eons ago, and cannot keep track of my own two club badges (Ettseteras and Offsets) from week to week. I'm in your boat, Bill!

convention newbies?

Naturally we will expect a full-blown Callerlab review in the next Callsheet from the two of you, as you go to your first (?) Callerlab convention. It is a thrilling event, really, and you'll find lots of things to yak about. Have a great time there!
