While I still don't have the 1099 forms from two organizations to complete my income tax filing for 2007, I do have estimates I can use to start crunching the numbers. Thanks to a number of itemized deductions (including mortgage interest) and maxing out my 401(k), I'm getting a healthy tax return from the feds and a few hundred dollars back from the state of Maryland.
I'm going over the draft of my return in detail, ensuring that the responses to various questions of the software landed in the correct boxes and that various small details are consistent in form & usage with prior years' filings.
Now if only the extra papers would arrive so I could submit the damn thing and get my money back...
Edit: I haven't been knicked by the alternative minimum tax yet... whew! And I didn't put in our local real estate tax so we get an extra deduction!
