From My Grandmother

Hope you have a good Day. We celebrated here by burning down a house which, I understand, was one of the first houses to be built in Drumbo. It was quite close to several others and the firemen were afraid that if it got going in the right direction, it could take out the whole street. It's the most exciting thing that has gone on here.

My grandmother was willing to torch an entire block of her village in honour of my birthday! How sweet!

Top that, betches! :-)

Happy Birthday!! Have fun with all those candles!

Can you see the glow from the west coast?

[identity profile] fuzzygruf.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Your glow knows no borders.

What do you think started that house fire?

kent, honey, whatever happened to that masterpiece, facedowninthecandydish.com?

it was up for the beginning of Brian's fifth decade, but seems to have disappeared. Why? he's not getting any younger!

Your grandmother rocks.

Happy day to you!

Just don't invite her to your town unless you're heavily insured.

[identity profile] madknits.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Happy birthday, Boo.

Just how many candles on top o' that cake?

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
41 candles. Or, apparently, one historic home. :-)

[identity profile] madknits.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Never mind the historic home, that damn cake is gonna be a conflagration!

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)

Happy Birthday my friend! I still have you beat in the candle dept though. :-P

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Always the over-achiever! :-)

[identity profile] ciddyguy.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe... Can't help the candle bit, if anything, I've been the UNDER achiever. :-P

[identity profile] beartalon.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Given the weather warnings here, it would have been easy to spread the flames around. For some, it's just natural. ;)

[identity profile] beartalon.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
And, as we believe we're born that way, it must have been one you got on your birthday.

[identity profile] manley1.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Happy birthday!!!!

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! So far, so good!

[identity profile] cuyahogarvr.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. This cracks me up. I love your grandmother and I haven't even met her yet. She sounds like a hoot.

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
She is a blast and I hope you'll be able to meet her soon.

[identity profile] musicbearmn.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I love your grandma. Can I adopt her?

And, Happy Birthday, you sexy thing!

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure the pair of you would hit it off immediately.

And thanks, handsome! *woof*!

[identity profile] dr-scott.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Happy, happy, happy. Let me be the first to point out that you will be prime for the whole year. You may need preservatives after that.

Hmm, and in the longer run, there's probably enough material on LJ and your hard drive to duplicate your personality as an AI, to within 98% level.

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm prime! Yay!

Those quaint Canadian customs! That's one way to stay warm in those northern Ontario sticks.

All this talk of how many candles... It's beginning to dawn on me why Palm Springs is so warm. Watch, they'll probably hit a quota soon and not let me in because of candlepower restrictions. ;-)

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Excuse me, what's the carbon footprint of that birthday cake?"

[identity profile] trawnapanda.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Those quaint Canadian customs! That's one way to stay warm in those northern Ontario sticks

Brian's boyhood home in northern Ontario burned down (but not, I b'leeve, on his birthday).

The house that burned today, as reported by Brian's Grandma, was in Drumbo ON, which is not north. It's south of me in Toronto, f'rinstance. It's about halfway between Woodstock ON and Kitchener ON, latitude 43.16N. By way of comparison, it's south of both Portland OR (46N) and Portland ME (43.39N), and almost exactly the same latitude as Milwaukee.

As to keeping warm - well, it is rather chilly and howling a gale hereabouts today. Maybe that's why the locals set it ablaze!

I stand corrected!!

[EDIT:] Those quaint Canadian customs! That's one way to stay warm in those, um, Southern, um, Ontario... um, sticks.

[That better?]

Happy Birthday!! :-)

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! Wheee!

[identity profile] ljtourist.livejournal.com 2008-01-31 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, a very happy birthday to you. Google News reports no fires near you, so I assume the party went well. :)

[identity profile] bjarvis.livejournal.com 2008-01-31 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup, the house and neighbourhood is still (largely) intact and all folks are accounted for. :-)
