Sticker Shock

bjarvisA couple of weeks ago, we ordered a new front-loader washing machine and gas-powered dryer. This morning, we finally had a plumber to give an estimate (and, if we agree, proceed) running a gas line from one side of the furnace/laundry room to the other for the new dryer.
The estimate is $1300 USD.
This is not quite twice Kent's best guess, but it's more than four times mine.
It's days like this I think I'm in the wrong line of work.
