I'm a little astonished that 2008 begins today. What on earth happened to the earlier part of this decade? It feels like the past five years have buzzed past with incredible speed.

No resolutions for this year, although if I were to make one it would be to see about applying the brakes lightly to my life, slowing it just a little.

I got my resolution from Katie Couric, of all people, many years ago. Saw her on the tube at the beginning of some year, and they were trading resolutions.

"my resolution? same as every year -- flossing".

I was at the dentist on 27 December, and got scolded (again). So I'll try harder this year, en route (I hope) to healthier dentition.
