bjarvis: (sleeping)

My dear cold took a turn for the ugly last night but not as badly as the prior evening. This is getting seriously tiresome, literally: I was waking up every 30-45 minutes all of last night. If I hadn't already quarantined myself to the small guestroom, the guys would have dumped me there with great annoyance.

This morning, I'm still less than I should be but more functional than I've been since xmas day. I hadn't been to the office in a week and another four day weekend lay before me so I thought it would be a good idea --or at least good politics-- to make an appearance at work, even if I couldn't bear to stay the entire day.

Commuter traffic was a dream this morning; it probably was was every day this week but I didn't realize how much so until today. Since I'm driving against the flow of traffic, my commute time wasn't affected at all but I could see the oncoming flow of commuter traffic was an insignificant trickle compared to the stop-and-go nightmare of thousands of cars clogging every lane of I270.

As expected, the office is damn near devoid of any human life: there's two other people on my floor right now, although I do expect two more to arrive shortly. Catching up on a week's e-mail took only 20 minutes. In short, I've missed nothing and I have nothing work-related to do for the balance of today. Of all the times to have a serious illness, this was close to ideal.

I don't know if we'll be going downtown for Happy Hour tonight; for me, it's largely dependent on my energy level. Stay tuned.
